I’m surprised I even remembered the password for my blog account! To say things have been crazy would be a complete understatement. Since my last post (if anyone even remembers it), I have completed all of my long runs except one. I have one more daunting 20 mile run tomorrow. I have already prepped my gear and I’m staring at Pinterest to find quotes to mentally prepare. Just like all of my long runs, I will be tackling this alone. As the miles are piling up, I am only hoping they are going faster than they truly are.
During my hiatus, we bought a new home, sold our first house, had our daughter’s first birthday and I started my practicum for the final stage of my Masters program. In all of this craziness, I was able to continue the marathon training. There were weeks when I was unable to complete all of the training runs. But, in the end, it won’t matter. I have managed to complete the long runs at least!
My actual struggle during this time has been the nutrition. I have numerous excuses for why I could eat the cheeseburger and fries over the salad and cottage cheese. My job has put me on the road more, my training allows me to eat more, I don’t have time to cook a healthy meal. Trust me, if there is an excuse, I am sure I used it.
My focus after the 20 miler, I WILL complete tomorrow, will be nutrition. I WILL chart what I am putting in my body. I WILL stock the fridge with healthy fruits and vegetables. I WILL cook and prepare healthy meals for not only myself but my family as well.
Finally, I WILL enjoy the tapering runs as we inch closer and closer to marathon day!
I will leave everyone with some of the awesome quotes I have pinned on Pinterest:
